The following comments are taken straight from the guestbook we keep for Hillcroft. Verbatim.
The house is in a lovely setting with incredible views, huge property with lots of space for large groups. Kitchen well stocked. Really clean when we arrived. Peak venues are so easy to deal with and all the information provided was easy to read and find everything. Such a super long weekend away here.
The Hillcroft was amazing lovely and clean inside. There was 19 of us and there was enough space and beds for everyone. Would highly recommend peak venues and will use them again. Finally the host Martyn was there to answer any questions I had.
We would just like say we really enjoyed out stay at Hillcroft the house was perfect for our large family it was very well equipped.
Beautifully presented home with excellent facilities in a stunning location.
We had an amazing stay at Hillcroft with our friends and family. The location was perfect, the house was beautiful, and the space was ideal for a family get together. We'd definitely stay here again. It is worth noting, however, that the main bedroom has no privacy in the bathroom (the beautiful bathtub in direct sight of people on the terrace), and that the curtains only block half the windows, making an eye mask essential during the summer months!
Hillcroft is a stunning house in a stunning location. We hired the house for our intimate wedding celebration and it was perfect. We used the Dinner Party Company for the wedding lunch and hired the village hall, which stands at the end of the front lawn of the house for an evening party with an acoustic band.
The house was wonderful and the space was perfect. Light, airy, very clean and beautiful views. Such a pleasure to be in a house that takes a substantial number of people but doesn’t feel overcrowded. We were able to go for two big walks in the fabulous Peak District and all in all we had the best family reunion at Hillcroft
The house was wonderful and the space was perfect, spacious, very clean, light and airy with wonderful views. Despite big numbers (17 overnight and several visiting family we didn’t feel cramped at anytime! We contacted hosts twice with questions and they were instantly responsive. We were able to go for two big walks in the fabulous Peak District and we had the best family reunion at Hillcroft
Beautiful house, great location, wonderful views. We had a great time and would recommend it.
We had a super weekend, with all the family having a lovely time.
We had a super enjoyable long weekend stay at Hillcroft. We are a large family group with ages ranging from 2 years old up to 92 years and there was space for everyone. For the children to play and watch tv in the super spacious comfy lounge, and the adults to sit and relax and chat in the kitchen diner, while dinner was cooking. Hillcroft is a lovely, clean, comfortable and spacious home and the kitchen is equipped with just about everything you could need and we all agreed we would love to come back again. Thank you so much for a super weekend away.
We had a fabulous time thanks the house was everything we hoped for and more I would highly recommend this house and Peak Venues
Hillcroft was the absolute, ideal place for our family to celebrate, thank you. Each person/couple had a separate room with toilet facilities. The property is superbly appointed and hidden away in a beautiful location. The weather on Saturday was lovely and perfect to visit Carsington and Ashbourne itself. Everyone was delighted with our choice of venue and enjoyed the whole weekend. Thank you to the owners and yourselves for another memorable weekend.
The house was beautiful, everyone was thoroughly impressed, I would definitely book this property again.
We had a fabulous stay at Hillcroft. The service provided throughout from booking to our stay could not be faulted. Lots of helpful information provided in advance. The house is beautifully presented with all facilities provided for a family stay - it really wowed our guests. Just one very small point - we couldn’t find a bread knife!
The owners responded immediately to our request for a bbq (as the previous one at the property had been damaged by previous guests). Also, the hot water had been mistakenly turned off which meant that, although the owners came to switch it back on, it took ages to refill leading to some cold showers and us not being able to take advantage of the lovely baths!
Thank you for a wonderful stay at Hillcroft this weekend.
Really great website, liked the ability to have bedrooms and beds made up to meet guest requirements. Excellent promotion of local businesses. We used Scoff who were great.
We absolutely loved our stay. The House was immaculate. Everything was easy to find and the owners were super quick in responding back when sending emails.
We had the most fantastic weekend at your beautiful property. It was everything we had hoped for and much more, none of us wanted to leave. The situation of the house is perfect and the views stunning and just perfect for a family celebration. We even managed to stock up on the local jam on sale at the little church down the road. Thank you also for the two bottles of wine which we found on our arrival which was a lovely thought. I will certainly recommend your properties to my friends and hope to return to Hillcroft again. Thank you once again.
We had a lovely stay in the Hillcroft, a beautiful house in a beautiful location.
Beautiful house and we’ve had a great time celebrating my dads 90th and my daughters 21st
Hillcroft was amazing. Absolutely perfect. Everyone had the most incredible time and loads of memories were created. A truly beautiful place to celebrate my 50th with my wonderful family.
My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hillcroft. The house was ideal for a large family group, well equipped and with superb views in an excellent location. A delightful stay and excellent weather to boot.
Just wanted to thank you for our weekend visit to your property at Hillcroft booked by Lisa. All visits from Canada, Australia and different areas of U.K. had a weekend that will stay in our hearts for ever. The house was amazing. Cooking for 21 people was a joy because everything was there. Many thanks
We had a wonderful stay at Hillcroft and will be sure to keep it (& other Peak Venues properties) top of our mind for when we next need a location for a large group get together.
It really was a lovely week, the house is beautiful as well as the location. We met the owners and gave them our feedback but please pass on our thanks again to them.

A beautiful example of an 18th century mansion, designed by the famous architect Robert Adam, Kedleston Hall was built for Sir Nathaniel Curzon in 1765 as a house to rival Chatsworth. Intended as 'a temple of the arts' and as the location for grand entertainments, the main house was never meant to be a family home, but a show palace in which to showcase the finest paintings, sculpture and furniture. The most spectacular example of this can be seen in Lord Curzon's Eastern Museum which is brimming full of a eclectic mix of treasures he amassed whilst Viceroy of India. Outside there is a variety of long and short walking routes, perfect for all the family (dogs included) around the Pleasure Grounds and park land to enjoy.

Sudbury Hall is situated 15 miles away from Hillcroft and a 30 minute drive. A National Trust Country Home of the Vernon family, this property has a wealth of history to take in as you walk around the hall. Used for the filming of some of the locations of the BBC's adaptation of Pride and Prejudice it makes it a more exciting day trying to recognise where they filmed. Situated in the Hall's old service wing the Museum of Childhood is a must for all ages to enjoy. Walk through the Victorian Street and have a go with the games they enjoyed. Explore the childhoods of years gone by and remember the toys you used to play with. There is also an opportunity of being a pupil from the Victorian era and see how school life was back then compared to now.
