The Best Peak District Pubs

The Royal Oak

Arguably one of the best pubs in the Peak District, the Royal Oak really does offer something for everyone. This country pub is nestled on a quiet lane in the southern Peak District and is a stone's throw from the Tissington & High Peak Cycle Trail and our very own Hurdlow Grange. As far as peak district pubs go, this one really has everything, whether you are a walker or a cyclist passing by in need of a refreshing pint or a family group in need of a great place to celebrate a special occasion. Whatever the weather you can be sure of a warm welcome, the outdoor space is huge with a covered patio area alongside lawned gardens for alfresco dining in the summer months. Head inside and you will be greeted by cosy interiors, timber beams and roaring fires, perfect after a winter's walk.

Got your four legged friends with you? Then bring them along as it's one of the best dog friendly pubs in the Peak District, and they are welcome to relax by the fire too. Excellent food is always on offer here, serving up hearty homemade dishes from pub classics to seasonal specials from Midday - 9pm, 7 days a week. They also have a great selection of breakfasts available every Saturday & Sunday from 8.30 - 11am perfect for fuelling up ready for a day of exploring the Peaks. Of course, all these offerings can be washed down with one of the many craft beers, local and guest ales, that feature on the bar, including Whim Ales, Buxton BreweryThornbridge Brewery and Peak Ales to name a few. There is excellent coffee on hand from Buxton Roastery and for the wine lovers, there is a great selection from  Hattersley Wines.

As you can imagine this is a very popular pub with locals and visitors alike so our biggest tip is to book a table in advance. You can book online via their website or give them a call
