We offer five individually styled bedrooms, each designed as a warm, cosy sanctuary for recharging after a day on the trails. Every single room features "zip-and-link" beds, giving you the choice of a generous double or twin singles. Three of our largest rooms include full-sized adult bunk beds, making them ideal for families or larger groups who want to stay close without sacrificing a good night's sleep. One of our charming bedrooms is located on the ground floor, perfect for those who prefer to skip the stairs.

The real statement feature of the property is the sunken conservatory giving the guests an amazing communal open plan space. The quirky hexagonal room with glass roof lets in an abundance of light throughout the year, a large table can comfortably seat 16 and there are patio doors leading to the garden - so perfect for those pre dinner drinks outside in those warmer months. The dining room leads into the well equipped kitchen enabling the would be chefs in the group to still socialise with the rest of the guests.
The kitchen is fitted with all the mod cons you would expect to find, comprising of two fan assisted ovens, two full height fridge freezers, dishwasher, microwave and ample cooking dishes, trays and crockery.
Star House has been thoughtfully designed for the "long-awaited catch-up." Whether you’re reuniting with old friends or gathering the extended family, the ground floor offers a seamless flow of social spaces, ensuring there’s always a perfect corner for a quiet chat or a social group celebration. To one side of the lounge leads down some stairs to the spacious kitchen this flows to the dining room in the eye catching hexagonal conservatory. To the other side of the lounge you step through a striking traditional stone archway into a dedicated games room. Complete with a bar billiards table and a wall-mounted TV, it’s the go-to spot for some friendly competition. A sun-soaked conservatory, featuring plush, soft seating and bathed in natural light, it offers a more tranquil alternative for those who want to curl up with a book while staying close to the action. When the sun comes out, throw open the large patio doors to connect the interior with the private garden.
A landscaped garden to the rear of the property is a fabulous entertaining area, a flagged terrace leads directly from the property with picnic bench style seating for outdoor dining to be enjoyed. Steps lead down to a lawn perfect for a ball kick around. Tucked in the corner at the end of the garden is a hidden retreat, which can be accessed via the dining conservatory, a private patio area that creates a lovely intimate space for dining and socialising. There is a charcoal BBQ available for use from 01st April through to 31st October, we do ask you to please supply your own charcoal and lighting equipment. There is plenty of private parking.
The owner resides in a detached house on site giving you the assurance that assistance is close by if needed but still affording you privacy to enjoy your stay.

Please do respect these times as they are in place to allow the housekeeping teams enough time to thoroughly clean the property before and after your stay
Please remove dirty and high heeled shoes on entry
Please do not bring any candles, tea lights or incense sticks as they are not allowed at the property
No fireworks, Chinese lanterns or drones are allowed
No smoking or vaping inside the property. Vaping can trigger the fire alarms
Can any outside socialising please be brought inside by 10pm, we kindly ask that neighbours and local residents are not disturbed at any time, for more information please see our Noise and Behaviour Policy
No extra day guests are allowed at this property
No glitter please as even the most eco friendly kind is impossible to remove from the soft furnishings and hard wearing floors
If you wish to decorate the interior of the property, please use an adhesive that is suitable and won't leave marks on the walls or damage the paint when removed.
No Karaoke machines of any type or PA systems
Due to the risk of fire from thermal runaway the charging of electric bikes, scooters, hoverboards and similar devices are strictly prohibited inside any properties

Taddington itself is very well located and sits midway between the popular market town of Bakewell and the historic spa town of Buxton and is set in some glorious Peakland scenery. From your door step you can walk a spectacular variety of scenic routes including the Limestone Way which passes right through the village.
Nearby are some beautiful dales and grassy hilltops with spectacular panoramic views. You are a very short drive or cycle to the Monsal Trail – you can hire bikes here at Blackwell Cycle hire and even abseil from the viaduct at Millers Dale.
Around the surrounding area, you will find the Blue John Caverns, The Tissington and High Peak Trails, The Goyt Valley, Dovedale, Chatsworth House, Tissington and Haddon Hall all of these are within an easy drive. Alton Towers is within a 25 minute drive too.

Directions to Star House by car from Bakewell (approx. 10 mins):
Follow signs to the A6 (Buxton Road)- continue along this for 4.8 miles
Immediately the speed limit changes from 50 to national speed limit and the road turns into a dual-carriageway, there is a left hand turn onto ‘main road’ (often there is a sign for The Queen’s Arms)
Follow the road for 0.8 miles (continuing past the Queen’s Arms on your right hand-side)
There will be a red telephone box on your left hand-side and Star House is immediately after on your right
The entrance to the carpark is just after the property on your right (just before the entrance to the churchyard)
You have arrived at Star House!
Follow signs to the A6- continue along this for 5.5 miles
You will go past a left turn to Priestcliffe and a bus stop on your left hand side. Just after the bus stop there will be a sign with Taddington signposted. There are two turnings shown on the sign, make sure you take the second one signposted ‘Taddington’ as this will make sure you are on Main Road not School Lane.
Once you have turned right onto Main Road, follow the road for 0.4 miles
There is a churchyard on your left hand-side
The entrance to Star House carpark is immediately after the churchyard entrance on your left (if you reach a red telephone box on your right hand-side you have gone too far!)

It is always best to check the websites for any seasonal opening times as some places do shut early or close over the winter months.
With the Monsal Trail so close by it would be rude not to take the opportunity to cycle/walk along this old Midland Railway line which runs from Bakewell right up to Blackwell Mill, in Chee Dale. The trail offers 8.5 miles of traffic free and mud free cycling/walking and with the reopened tunnels offers one of the most spectacular leisure routes in Britain for cycling, walking and horse riding. The nearest cycle hire to the property is at Blackwell Mill and you can also hire bikes at Hassop station which is great place to stop for a bite to eat or for a coffee and nice piece of homemade cake! There is also a lovely little gift shop and book shop and a children’s play area. If walking it also worth leaving the trail and dropping down in to Monsal Dale itself to enjoy walking along down by the river. You are able to join the trail at Millers Dale, at the old station.

Bakewell is the largest town within the Peak District National Park and is a hub of activity. Market day is on a Monday and as well as a large range of stalls there is also an agricultural market which is definitely worth a look around as it offers a great insight todays farming community. The town also hosts a craft and gift fair most weekends in the Brigade town hall. The Bakewell Old House Museum occupies one of the oldest buildings in Bakewell and dates back to 1543, it provides a fascinating glimpse into the towns past and is very interesting and informative with lots to appeal to all ages. Obviously no trip to Bakewell would be complete without sampling an original Bakewell pudding. The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop claims to have the old the original recipe and still makes the puddings by hand from this secret recipe.

Located just a few miles outside of Buxton the Goyt Valley combines some of the most picturesque valley, moorland, river and reservoir scenery to be found in the United Kingdom. There is plenty of walking routes in the valley, there are the two man-made reservoirs, Fernilee and Errwood to walk or cycle around and also the ruins of Errwood Hall to explore. For those you want more of a challenging walk, a walk up to the nearby Shining Tor offers great views of the surrounding area.

The spa town of Buxton can really offer something for everyone; enjoy a stroll around the pretty Pavilion gardens. The kids can enjoy the playground areas or you might choose to go for a swim at the public swimming pool. The more adventurous may want to try out ‘Go Ape’ the treetop adventure course, for those without a head for heights a visit to Poole’s Cavern is fascinating, and it’s a great activity especially for kids when the weather does not cooperate for outdoor activities. For theatre lovers, seeing a show in the intimate Buxton Opera House is a must, and for the shopaholics the pretty Cavendish Arcade has a range of lovely little boutique shops. Lovers of real ale will enjoy visiting Buxton Tap House, which is Buxton’s own brewery pub serving its very own ales and bitters.

No visit to the Peak District would be complete without visiting the fabulous Chatsworth Estate. There really is something to do for every member of the family - The Farmyard and Adventure playground, the magnificent house and the gardens which are equally as impressive as the house, with the maze, the garden trails, and the famous water cascade to keep the little ones occupied.

There is space for 15 cars, located at the rear of the property on a gravelled area
For reasons of both safety and property insurance, under no circumstances should you use the domestic plug sockets in the property to charge an electric vehicle. Our domestic supply in the property does not have the capacity or set up to support EV charging. Please use this link, that you may find helpful, for the local nearby charging stations.

Property Quirks
Due to the age and character of the building Star House may not be not suitable for guests with restricted mobility due to the narrow stairwell with wooden stairs down to the main kitchen and large conservatory dining space there are also steps throughout the garden
The French doors leading to the sunken patio has a low level head height - so please duck!
The Conservatory roof is toughened glass but no guest should venture onto the roof at any time

The village is a working farming village so you may experience seasonal sights and smells, plus the odd tractor passing your door
The owner does live in a detached house on site so can be on hand if you need anything but still allowing you privacy for your stay
Online deliveries welcome but please make sure that you have booked the slot to arrive after you have checked in as there are no staff on site to accept your delivery. Location and address is on the directions page.
Dogs
We allow 3 dogs at the property and charge £30 per dog for the duration of their stay
We do ask that dogs are kept off the furniture and out of the bedrooms
Please make sure you clear all dog litter from the garden and grounds
Please do not leave dogs unattended in the properties or garden at any time
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi is provided free of charge, however, as the Peak District is in a beautiful rural location sometimes there may be intermittent signal which is beyond our control. We also hope you appreciate that we cannot guarantee Wi-Fi if there are technical issues in the area
