3 Sunny Lea is a pretty cottage with a small but well presented front garden which is laid to lawn with established planting and edged with low stone walls or hedges. There is a small gated access but we do advise not to leave any dogs unattended in this area due to the road on the other side of the wall. The views from the garden lead you to the open fields across the road and every year the village hosts beautiful well dressings with one of them situated opposite the cottage. There is a small space to sit with table and chairs so you can sit back and enjoy a morning coffee, an evening drink or just a peaceful spot to take in this beautiful village and relax.
As you go through the striking archway (which is shared with your neighbours) this leads to the rear of the property you have your parking space for the cottage - please do be aware of where the parking area is when you arrive and make sure the neighbours are not blocked in. There is a lockable stone outbuilding that can house up to 6 bikes plus another store for the bins. Over the back tall hedge is the village playing fields and children's play area which can be accessed by several entrances from the village, one being handily around the corner from the cottage.

Really lovely cottage in beautiful village location of Ashford on the Water. Very well presented accommodation with many thoughtful touches. We stayed for two nights whilst visiting Chatsworth and exploring the local area, and really enjoyed staying here. Great views from the cottage and The Ashford Arms is to be recommended too. Great communication with the owners and agents. Overall an immaculately presented and beautifully decorated cottage that we would have no hesitation in returning too. Thank you x
Bedrooms are lovely and beds are comfortable. Bathroom is absolutely stunning with all facilities needed. Living room is cosy and very homely. The owners are amazing and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. Felt very safe and secure. My son is autistic and he felt so comfortable and at ease here. Definitely will be back!
Location was great for the walking holiday planned. Very comfortable and clean
A gorgeous cosy cottage within easy walking distance to all that you would need, including a local shop, two pubs and a fabulous little cafe. The village also has a pretty bridge where you can feed ducks and throw sticks, and there’s a great park literally behind the house. I had a wonderful stay with my two young sons (5&3) and would return there in a heartbeat!
An excellent well-equipped cosy home, with lovely decor and artwork. It was a pleasure to stay here and we highly recommend it, and we hope to come back.

We stayed in 3 Sunny Lea for a weekend and were absolutely blown away by it. The cottage is spacious, immaculately clean and decorated and furnished to the highest standard. The added bonus of off-road parking was the icing on the cake. The village is beautiful too.
Really nice place. Well presented. Good location. Parking and information etc good.
3 Sunny Lea cottage was an absolute pleasure to stay in, we had a wonderful time in the accommodation, the beds were comfortable, the room sizes are great and the bathroom spacious. The kitchen and lounge were more than comfortable to use with 5 of us in there and it was nicely equipped for our stay. For 6 people, the cottage is great and in a fabulous location, the pubs are so close and the food delicious, the playground behind is brilliant for little ones and its close to Buxton, Bakewell, Monsal Head and Chatsworth House.
Excellent place, would use again 100%.
Beautiful cottage. Very cosy, well equipped and beautifully decorated. Beds very comfortable and fantastic location .
I cannot speak highly enough of this cosy cottage. It's decorated and furnished to a very high standard and spotlessly clean. The beds are extremely comfortable and had top quality linen, pillows and throws. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you might need. Beautiful quality bathroom with fluffy white towels. The log burner was easy to light and very effective. The village is attractive with plenty of walks and a couple of friendly and popular pubs serving good food. An all round excellent weekend stay.
Spotlessly clean and lovely rooms, we had a great break here at Ashford in the water. We'll definitely be back.

It is always best to check the websites for any seasonal opening times as some places do shut early or close over the winter months.
Bakewell is the largest town within the Peak District National Park and is a hub of activity. Market day is on a Monday and as well as a large range of stalls there is also an agricultural market which is definitely worth a look around as it offers a great insight todays farming community. The town also hosts a craft and gift fair most weekends in the Brigade town hall. The Bakewell Old House Museum occupies one of the oldest buildings in Bakewell and dates back to 1543, it provides a fascinating glimpse into the towns past and is very interesting and informative with lots to appeal to all ages. Obviously no trip to Bakewell would be complete without sampling an original Bakewell pudding. The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop claims to have the old original recipe and still makes the puddings by hand from the secret recipe.

With the Monsal Trail so close by it would be rude not to take the opportunity to cycle/walk along this old Midland Railway line which runs from Bakewell right up to Blackwell Mill, in Chee Dale. The trail offers 8.5 miles of traffic free and mud free cycling/walking and with the recently reopened tunnels offers one of the most spectacular leisure routes in Britain for cycling, walking and horse riding. The nearest cycle hire is at Hassop station which is great place to stop for a bite to eat or for a coffee and nice piece of homemade cake! There is also a lovely little gift shop and book shop and a children’s play area. If walking it's also worth leaving the trail and dropping down in to Monsal Dale itself to enjoy walking along down by the river.

This award winning brewery is just down the road from the property and ideal for the real ale lover . They generally have a range of 10 cask and keg Thornbridge beers, including Thornbridge favourites and also some of their rarer beers. A large Tap Room, with comfy seating, serving pizzas daily and on various dates there are open mic gigs and live entertainment.

No visit to the Peak District would be complete without visiting the fabulous Chatsworth House. At Chatsworth there is something to do for every member of the family. The Farmyard and Adventure playground is a brilliant day out for children of all ages - with animal handling, milking demonstrations and daily activities, plus a woodland adventure playground with slides, climbing nets and more! Then there is obviously the house itself, steeped with history it’s one of Britain’s greatest stately homes and has been passed down through 16 generations of the Cavendish family. The gardens are equally as impressive as the house, over 100 acres of landscaped garden as well as seasonal flowers and planting, there are giant water features and sculptures dotted around. Suitable for all the family, with the maze, garden trails, and the famous water cascade to keep the little ones occupied.

Baslow, Curbar and Froggatt Edges are only a short drive away and offer a spectacular walking route where you can view both the Dark and White Peaks. These three gritstone edges are part an almost continuous line of cliffs running from Stanage Edge down to Birchen Edge at the southern end. These Edges once famous for millstones, are now known as great places to rock climb. There over 200 rock-climbing routes on Curbar Edge alone, making the edges a mecca for walkers and climbers alike. For walkers Baslow Edge also offers interesting features including a memorial to the Duke of Wellington, a giant rock called the Eagle Stone which in years gone by the young men of Baslow used it to show off their prowess and fitness for marriage by climbing to the top and even some resident Highland cows. There are many different routes, some circular, some linear around the edges and also different staring/finishing points. A nice circular route which also includes walking along the river Derwent can be viewed by clicking here.
