We warmly welcome you to The Royal Oak, a charming country pub and the perfect base for exploring the delights of the southern Peak District.

The Royal Oak's open fires and hidden corners are a welcoming sight for all tired walkers craving a well-earned pint, families on a day out in search of a friendly haven or 'Foodies' after some great homemade dishes. Proper food, generous portions and sensible prices are what make The Royal Oak so special. We take great pride in offering a very traditional style of hospitality complete with a cosy pub atmosphere, good company, cask-conditioned ales, a fine selection of wines, and a menu of hearty English pub food. Serving food all day, every day from 12 noon until 9 pm means you can sit back and enjoy the unique atmosphere at the 'Oak' anytime.

Peak District Food

The aim is to produce good honest pub food that is freshly prepared on the premises. The policy at The Royal Oak is to source the best seasonal produce and support local suppliers. In order to create an extensive menu, suppliers have been chosen from their established and trusted reputations, knowledge and quality of product and with consideration to the environment. Whether it's a light bite, a Sunday Roast, comforting classic or something a little different from the specials board, you are sure to leave more than satisfied. 

Aiming to cater to all tastes and if you have any dietary requirements, want something not on the menu, or if you just fancy a dish with different vegetables, salad, or sauce, just ask. Children of all ages are welcome and there is a Children's Menu with smaller portions to tempt little appetites. Larger groups can be catered for  in our 'Oak Room' allowing for a great Royal Oak experience for up to around 30 people.

You can really get the best from the Royal Oak and experience all it has to offer from one of our nearby properties.

Just round the corner from the 'Oak', a mere mile down the quiet country lane, lies Hurdlow Grange. The cluster of 6 luxury holiday cottages around a central courtyard can be booked individually, sleeping between 2 and 14 people, or all-together sleeping up to 45 guests, and any combination in-between. The amazing rural location allows for an exclusive and private experience in the heart of the countryside.

In the village of Chelmorton which is pleasant hour stroll from the pub are 2 lovely cottages, Rose Cottage sleeping 2-4 guests and Ingle Cottage sleeping 6-8 guests.

In the opposite direction, 2-mile walk from the Royal Oak along the beautiful Tissington trail will lead you to the Telephone Exchange. A unique and contemporary holiday cottage, offering wonderful open-plan interiors and amazing Peak District views for up to 24 guests.

A little further on from the Telephone Exchange heading towards the village of Monyash are 2 stunning properties The Barn at Benty Grange sleeps 20 and The Farmhouse at Benty Grange sleeps 18.
