The following comments are taken straight from the guestbook we keep for Hillcroft. Verbatim.
Hillcroft was the absolute, ideal place for our family to celebrate, thank you. Each person/couple had a separate room with toilet facilities. The property is superbly appointed and hidden away in a beautiful location. The weather on Saturday was lovely and perfect to visit Carsington and Ashbourne itself. Everyone was delighted with our choice of venue and enjoyed the whole weekend. Thank you to the owners and yourselves for another memorable weekend.
The house was beautiful, everyone was thoroughly impressed, I would definitely book this property again.
We had a fabulous stay at Hillcroft. The service provided throughout from booking to our stay could not be faulted. Lots of helpful information provided in advance. The house is beautifully presented with all facilities provided for a family stay - it really wowed our guests. Just one very small point - we couldn’t find a bread knife!
The owners responded immediately to our request for a bbq (as the previous one at the property had been damaged by previous guests). Also, the hot water had been mistakenly turned off which meant that, although the owners came to switch it back on, it took ages to refill leading to some cold showers and us not being able to take advantage of the lovely baths!
Thank you for a wonderful stay at Hillcroft this weekend.
Really great website, liked the ability to have bedrooms and beds made up to meet guest requirements. Excellent promotion of local businesses. We used Scoff who were great.
We absolutely loved our stay. The House was immaculate. Everything was easy to find and the owners were super quick in responding back when sending emails.
We had the most fantastic weekend at your beautiful property. It was everything we had hoped for and much more, none of us wanted to leave. The situation of the house is perfect and the views stunning and just perfect for a family celebration. We even managed to stock up on the local jam on sale at the little church down the road. Thank you also for the two bottles of wine which we found on our arrival which was a lovely thought. I will certainly recommend your properties to my friends and hope to return to Hillcroft again. Thank you once again.
We had a lovely stay in the Hillcroft, a beautiful house in a beautiful location.
Beautiful house and we’ve had a great time celebrating my dads 90th and my daughters 21st
Hillcroft was amazing. Absolutely perfect. Everyone had the most incredible time and loads of memories were created. A truly beautiful place to celebrate my 50th with my wonderful family.
My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hillcroft. The house was ideal for a large family group, well equipped and with superb views in an excellent location. A delightful stay and excellent weather to boot.
Just wanted to thank you for our weekend visit to your property at Hillcroft booked by Lisa. All visits from Canada, Australia and different areas of U.K. had a weekend that will stay in our hearts for ever. The house was amazing. Cooking for 21 people was a joy because everything was there. Many thanks

A beautiful example of an 18th century mansion, designed by the famous architect Robert Adam, Kedleston Hall was built for Sir Nathaniel Curzon in 1765 as a house to rival Chatsworth. Intended as 'a temple of the arts' and as the location for grand entertainments, the main house was never meant to be a family home, but a show palace in which to showcase the finest paintings, sculpture and furniture. The most spectacular example of this can be seen in Lord Curzon's Eastern Museum which is brimming full of a eclectic mix of treasures he amassed whilst Viceroy of India. Outside there is a variety of long and short walking routes, perfect for all the family (dogs included) around the Pleasure Grounds and park land to enjoy.
