Climbing in the Peak District

Peak District Climbing Routes

Some of the best climbs in the Peak District can all be found within a few minutes' drive of each other. Head to Dark Peak territory and you will find the famous Gritstone Edges that shape much of the landscape here.

Top of the list to check out are Stanage Edge, Froggatt Edge, Curbar Edge and Burbage Rocks – this is a particularly great spot for beginners with its selection of friendly short routes of good quality, routes vary from easy to hard so choose your location based on your skill level.

Of course, there are some more difficult crags and challenging routes with edges and boulders for the more skilled climber. With National Trust car parks a short walking distance from each location it makes this an easily accessible activity to arrange. Get there early in summer as this is a popular place for walkers too.
